FF7AC

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

Another film based around yet another game? Yes, and a very big No too. This 3D rendered film by Square Enix (the makers of the original game) is based on the events following the classic game Final Fantasy VII (FF7). It is set two years after the characters in FF7 have beaten the “evil” character Sephiroth, and released the energies that will heal the world from the destructive force of “Meteor”. All the main characters that were in the game, as you’d expect make an appearance in this, mostly to appease the millions of fans, as well as some new “children” bent on the destruction of the planet, to continue Sephiroth’s actions.

Cloud has removed himself from his circle of friends, and now lives a secluded life, that is until a lethal disease, known only as Geostigma threatens the people of Midgar, a bi-product of the events in the original game. Cloud must confront the threat from these children, and in spectacular style, battle to save his world, and it’s people.

The 3D rendered graphic animation is absolutely stunning, at times making it difficult to tell between animation and reality, the pace of the film is constant and fast, taking any viewer and especially fans of the original game, to heights undreamed of. This film is a masterpiece, and continues to amaze at every turn. As with all Final Fantasy adventures, whether game or film based, this one continues the fine tradition of excellence.
